Laminate countertops

The laminate types are usually referred to as plastic laminate because their surfaces are made of plastic. They contain a hard particle board core and layers of plastic attached over their tops. They are tough and durable. They also come in a wide variety of color and patterns. Most of them are made to resemble more expensive tops by having their surfaces blended with marble or granite.

The processing of these types of tops has been refined to make them more durable and appealing. They are also affordable compared to the granite and quartz types. They offer artificial look and feel.

Soap stone may not overtake granite as a countertop material but it offers a good choice for many premise owners. It provides a nuanced beauty and feels humbler than the granite or the marbles. It is a material which offers a natural softness with depths that fit well with the older and cottage like homes. With time, it acquires a patina which most people like. At first, it is usually light and medium gray in color and then with time, it turns to dark color.

Others include the lava surfaces, resin countertops, reclaimed wood surfaces and stainless tops. Each of these types have unique properties and their selection depends on your need.
